The purpose of this page is to highlight the background of the new Johnny G Spirit Bike and provide informative resources to help both the facility owner and user get the most out of their Johnny G Spirit Bike. In the following sections, you will find information on the history of Johnny G and the invention of indoor cycling in the 101 Overview To Indoor Cycling, as well as four Instructional videos explaining both the technical aspects of the bike, along with simulated rides. 101 OVERVIEW ON INDOOR CYCLING
Welcome to the 101 Overview To Indoor Cycling section. Whether you're new, or have been an instructor for years, this resource has something for everyone. This manual covers not only the nuts and bolts to setting up your new Johnny G Spirit Bike, it also provides every user solid group cycling fundamentals for you and or your students to have a fun and affective class. You will also be introduced to insights and training methods Johnny G himself has taught, and used, in his over 40 years of cycling. All the information herein, culminates in his personal creation of The Ride of Truth program and challenge. Pitting your mental metal, against the metal of the Johnny G Spirit Bike.

INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEOS
This video will take you through the nuts and bolts of the Johnny G Spirit Bike. We’ve designed one of the most advanced machines on the market, and we kept it simple to operate. Follow along with this video to familiarize yourself with basic bike set up, console use, and the advanced programs available. We’ll even take you through a 5-minute power test.
Spend 30 minutes going deeper into our bike, then take it for a ride!
TECHNICAL ORIENTATION
ALL TERRAIN RIDE
We designed this video to show any rider, at any level, how the features of our bike can be incorporated into their training. By the end of it you’ll be able to use biofeedback and real-time metrics to enhance your training.
We’ll cover cycling techniques, heart rate training, Watts, climbing, and rpm, and have some fun while we do it!
HILL CLIMB
Start challenging yourself mentally and physically! Our climb tutorial shows you how the varying levels of resistance and multiple hand positions can be used to simulate any real road climb you can imagine. Discover how simple changes in body positions and muscle recruitments can improve your strength and performance on the toughest hills.
AND we’ll guide you through recovery techniques to ensure your body will be prepared to tackle the stress of the ascending that next hill.
THE RIDE OF TRUTH
The true test of any athlete is how far they can go, and how long it takes them to get there. The Ride of Truth is the culmination of everything we’ve discussed in our previous videos, and will be your ultimate challenge. You’ll be exposed to the philosophy of "Time Trialing" and what it can do for your training or class atmosphere.
Go beyond the everyday, beyond the inside riding you’ve known for years, and use this 30 min video as a roadmap for a new challenge!
Sean has been in the health industry for over 20 years. He is recognized as a leading educator working for global certification companies. Sean has gone from a cycling enthusiast to competitor, and from a participant to a coach for large-scale events. His focus is helping individuals to achieve a higher sense of self. He’s taken the first steps on many fitness journeys and believes those experiences can help others, regardless of the goal.
Yvonne is a skilled and inspired trainer and coach. She is currently the Owner, Trainer, and Group Fitness Trainer at SportLokaal and is well-versed in the fitness industry. She is passionate about indoor cycling, especially about making the body and mind connection, riding-like-we-do-outside and music that touches the spirit.
Clemente was one of the first Indoor Cycling Master Trainers and helped introduce indoor Cycling concept to Latin America. He currently holds several certifications and has presented on dozens of fitness topics and platforms. Clemente has trained many of the best athletes in the world from Gabriela Sabatini (tennis) to Diego Armando Maradona (soccer). He brings his years of experience instructing riders and motivated them to achieve their fitness and personal goals.
Rex was certified in Indoor Cycling in 1997 and trained as a Master Trainer with Johnny G in 2002. As a Nike sponsored fitness trainer for 20 years, Rex has also trained professional athletes and basketball teams for strength and conditioning such as Taiwan men's SBL league championship team Pu Yuan as well as women's WSBL teams Taiwan Power and Taiwan Telecom. Rex now runs programs and services for the Johnny G Spirit Bike in Asia.
Brook Benten, M.Ed., entered the industry in 1999. Her skill in matching movements to music made her a natural choreographer. A road biking enthusiast, herself, Benten became a hard and fast proponent of the Johnny G Spirit Bike for its smooth ride, digital cockpit, and league-of-its-own technology features- including gear "levels." She joined Johnny and team in Santa Barbara, CA for the inaugural “Ride of Truth” in 2019 and has been loyal ever since!
Dr. Ayla Donlin has over 15 years of leadership experience in the fitness and wellness industry. Ayla is an adjunct faculty member and the director of an experiential learning and research laboratory at Long Beach State University. She also owns a wellness coaching and consulting business, Ayla Donlin Wellness. Ayla’s mission is to help hard-working humans create more space for well-being in their lives through challenging workouts.
